Spread the Word About Nutrition

We believe that it's not enough to simply feed those who are in need; it’s also essential to provide tools and knowledge to help individuals sustain balanced lifestyles well into the future.

Share Good Nutrition Information

The ConAgra Foods Foundation wants children not only to have food, but also to have the facts they need to eat nutritious, balanced meals so they can succeed in school and in life. Here are a few important tips, tools, and games that can help you and your family learn more about proper nutrition.

Understanding the Facts: Nutrition Guides

USDA's MyPyramid*

Did you know that a 3-year-old child should eat about 1-1/2 cups of veggies and 1 cup of fruit per day? That's what you can learn from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) MyPyramid website.

MyPyramid.gov is your access point for the USDA food guidance system. In April 2005, USDA released the MyPyramid food guidance system that provides many options to help Americans make healthy food choices and be active every day. The interactive site offers a variety of tips and ideas that can help you and your children get started toward a healthy diet.

MyPyramid Plan — Want to know the amount of each food group you need daily? Enter your information here to find out, and receive a customized food guide.

Inside the Pyramid — Go inside the Pyramid to learn how to vary your veggies, focus on fruit, go lean with protein, and more.

Fun for Kids — Learning about nutrition can be fun for kids when there are games involved! The site has a variety of materials that were designed specifically for children ages 6 to 11. Download the MyPyramid for kids poster.

Smart Shopping for Healthy Meals

Making meals at home encourages healthy eating, but planning healthy, tasty meals on a budget doesn’t have to be daunting. There are a number of resources available to help make food shopping and meal preparation easy and affordable.

Making Smart Choices —For quick shopping tips like avoiding the store when you’re hungry and buying produce that’s in season, visit the USDA’s Making Smart Choices page to keep your grocery store prices down without having to compromise your health.

We Can! - If you’re pressed for time or on a budget, creating healthy meals your whole family will like might seem impossible. We Can! or “Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity & Nutrition,” provides recipes and healthy alternatives that will help you make informed choices for your family and stick to your budget too.

MyPyramid Meal Planner (log-in information required) - Register for free and take advantage of the USDA’s MyPyramid meal planner to start building your personalized, healthy meals based on the food and beverages your family likes. For each item or meal, the site provides nutritional information and healthy living tips to help you and your family start eating right.

Hunger by the Numbers

One in five children is struggling with hunger in America. In some U.S. counties though, that number is as high as one in two Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap illustrates the reality of hunger in communities nationwide.
